About Us

According to the 2000 Census there were 1,398,724 persons who stated that they were of Hungarian ethnicity in the United States. Illinois ranked number eight among the states with a Hungarian population of 55,971.

The first Hungarian churches in Chicago were founded in 1903 and 1904.

The Hungarian community in Chicago is made up of a large number of individuals and organizations who, until now, have not had a centralized forum for exchanging information about their activities.

This web site was created and is maintained by the Hungarian Cultural Advisory Council of Chicago so as to provide members of our ethnic community a vehicle for sharing information about their activities among themselves as well as with those outside of their community.

Please let us know about other Hungarian organizations, businesses and activities in the Chicago Area so that this web site can be as complete as possible.
